@matthieudeluze we use your IP initially to figure out which room to put you in, but that's only temporary. (If you notice that you're the only person in a room, every time you refresh you get a entirely new room). I don't believe we capture anything other than the file, and the file should be automatically deleted after 3 minutes if no one downloads it.

@angeliquesocial we're planning to add a feature so you can send to everyone (or select certain animals) in the room at once! This will be good for meetings. Also if you notice how the rooms are called "rough-ancient-summit" (randomly generated every time) eventually we want to make it so that you can join other rooms by going to something like plover.io/rough-ancient-summit

I usually use my messaging apps to send files to myself. This is in fact extremely useful! Any plans, or if it is possible at all, to make it "Offline" in some way? What I mean is that since the devices are on the same local network, is there anyway to facilitate transfers without needing the internet? I'm saying this because that is one of the beauty of AirDrop. That you need "nothing" (but of course Apple devices duh) and you can easily transfer between devices.

@swiftpolar Unfortunately I don't think so. The only real way to go offline is with bluetooth or WebRTC over the local network. The biggest problem is that in our initial testing big institutions like the University of Toronto where I'm at use multiple IP addresses. My phone would be on one IP and my laptop on another and the lab computer on another. Right now with plover, you upload to an amazon s3 type server (digital ocean spaces), and you download from there and the file gets deleted after. (It's not peer to peer)

I just tried it with some quick jpeg files and it worked great. Is there a file size limit? And are folders also easy to transfer back and forth with this solution?

Really great ! in our worspace there are few computers, but on Linux / Windows. As well for phones, this looks really nice :)

@edouard_guerle_aoki One reason I made this was because it was really frustrating getting information from my computer lab linux systems to my laptop (mac). Before my go to method was emailing myself the files, but gmail has a 25MB limit.

@jacqvon because you can send it to anything thats not a iPhone/mac/iPad! I usually run into problems trying to Airdrop friends with Android phones (also Airdrop is a bit slow from my experience). Also I tried to make it more intuitive than Airdrop as well, I usually have to explain Airdrop to my friends who have never used it before. (You need to fiddle with your phone's settings (bluetooth, wifi, etc). With this, all you need to do is tell your friend to go on plover.io Lemme know if you have more questions! :D

@jacqvon @3raxton right off the bat Send Anywhere requires you to send links, keys, or email the recipient. With plover.io all that's required is that you go on the website and you're automatically paired up without any extra hassle (There's no need for prior contact information like emails). Personally I like the idea of telling the other person an animal over a 6 digit code as well! You can have multiple people in a room and eventually I'm going to implement the ability to send files to everyone in the room. (I feel like this will be good for meetings or presentations). Thanks for the input! :)
