Hey all! My name is Owen, I'm the developer behind PlaceholderJS. Since the demise of placeholder.com, I wanted to be able to use placeholders on my React projects via a package so that way I don't have to worry about these services shutting down again in the future. Additionally, for our non-React developers out there, I created a simple CDN that functions similarly.

@bick nice! The example URLs work well – I am going to use this today 💪 Have you thought about generating data-uri's so there is no network needed at all?

Love the concept, Owen! PlaceholderJS sounds like a game changer for React projects, especially with its lightweight footprint. The CDN option is a great touch for non-React users too – super inclusive! This kind of reliability is crucial in our fast-paced development world. Definitely upvoting this! Looking forward to seeing how it evolves.

Great to see PlaceholderJS launch, Owen! 🎉 The lightweight aspect is a huge plus for React devs who want to keep their projects optimized without the bloat. Using a CDN for non-React users is also a smart move, making it accessible to a broader audience. It's so crucial to have reliable tools in our stack, especially after losing placeholder.com. Can't wait to integrate this into my next project and maybe even contribute to its growth! Keep up the fantastic work! Upvoted!

I couldn't find a demo site, anything like that?
Owen Bick
@idoshamun Yes, I have updated the site to include demos

Sounds like a super handy tool. Haven't dived deep yet, but the idea of a reliable placeholder for React projects is cool. Congrats and good luck with the launch!

Nice 👏, I've recently been looking for exactly this feature - simple placeholder serving lightweight SVG images. Thanks!

This seems like a neat solution, @bick! I'm curious about the integration process for React projects. Can you share some insights on how easy it is to implement PlaceholderJS? Also, any plans to support other frameworks, or is it strictly React and CDN for now? Would love to see some practical examples or demos!
