GitHub review requests, Slack DMs, a WhatsApp group, two Gmail accounts, Linear — each one had its own tab, its own sound, and its own idea of what was urgent. I was checking six places to find out nothing had happened. Pingr is one menu bar window that all of them land in. What it does differently from "just turn on notifications": - One list, grouped by channel. GitHub, Slack, WhatsApp, Gmail/IMAP, Discord, Telegram, Linear, Notion, Jira, GitLab, Plane, X and Messenger. Each account polls on its own, so one broken token never stalls the rest. - Local-first. Notifications live in a SQLite database on your Mac. Search is full-text and instant, and works offline. Credentials are sealed inside the app's own database, not sent anywhere. - A brief instead of a feed. When you've been away, Pingr writes a short summary of what actually needs you. You can also ask it questions ("what did Grace say about the deploy?") and every answer cites the notifications it came from. It's a paid app — 14-day trial, then from $9.99/mo. No free tier; I'd rather charge and keep it maintained than sell your data.
