Hello PH! I built PermitRadar after I started hearing more about data centers popping up around the country. I wanted to know more about what was coming my way and in the process discovered that you can find city websites scattered throughout the country each with their own portal, their own data format, and their own take on what a permit even is. Turns out, building permits are the earliest public signal that something is about to be built — before any news article, before any construction fence goes up. So I wrote 200+ scrapers, normalized 1.6M permits into one dataset, geocoded them all, and put them on the map. Some cities give you the contractor, the cost, the square feet. Others give you an address, a permit number and wish you luck. The map and search are always free. If you want to monitor specific addresses and get alerts when permits are filed nearby, that's where the paid plans come in. Would love to get your feedback - especially on which cities to add next.
