Hey Product Hunters 👋,
I built Paul after repeatedly needing a fast, safe way to answer, "What does Postgres say for this user?” while on call or helping support. Opening a DB admin tool was slow for our production database at @Twenty since we had a specific database configuration that made DBeaver load for 5 minutes before I could start looking at actual data. I tried many tricks to fasten PgAdmin and other tools : force read-only connections, do not load data types, load only specific schemas... it made the experience better, but I wanted more. I wanted something faster by design so that you do not have to customize like hell.
Paul is a read-only macOS app focused purely on investigating a user’s data in Postgres. You can trace a user across related tables, follow foreign keys, and keep context in a split view. It is very fast. Keep in mind it's not meant for DBA or any task that requires editing data.
