Most step trackers tell you how far you’ve walked. Pathlings gives you a reason to keep going. Choose an adorable companion, complete quests, build streaks, earn rewards, decorate habitats, and watch your buddy evolve as you move throughout the day. Pathlings uses the steps already recorded by your iPhone to transform healthy habits into a cozy adventure inspired by the games many of us grew up loving.
Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I’m Dave, the developer behind Pathlings.
I built Pathlings because I’ve always been weirdly obsessed with tracking my steps, but I realized that knowing I walked 7,842 steps didn’t actually make me want to walk more. Most fitness apps are great at showing you data. I wanted to build something that made the habit itself feel rewarding.
Pathlings turns your daily steps into a cozy game. You choose a companion, earn XP as you walk, build streaks, complete quests, collect rubies, decorate habitats, and help your Pathlings grow through different evolution stages. The idea is simple: instead of checking a chart at the end of the day, you get to see the world and characters you’re building just by moving more.
A big part of the motivation behind Pathlings was recreating some of the feeling I loved in games growing up: the urge to level something up, unlock what comes next, and care about a little digital companion, without requiring you to carve out extra time to play. Your normal walks are the gameplay.
I’ve also tried hard to make Pathlings feel encouraging rather than punishing. You can choose a step goal that works for you, and the experience is designed around making consistency feel fun rather than making fitness feel like another obligation.
This has been a very hands-on project for me. I’ve spent a lot of nights iterating on the gameplay, habitats, progression systems, characters, and tiny details that make the world feel alive. Seeing early users tell me that Pathlings has given them an extra reason to go for a walk has easily been the most rewarding part.
I’d genuinely love feedback from this community -- especially on the core loop, progression, and what you’d want to see added next. If you try it, let me know which Pathling you pick first.
Thanks for checking out Pathlings ❤️
