Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I built PastCast because I missed the feeling of stumbling across a moment from my childhood and being instantly transported back to an easier time.
For me, it’s the Late Late Toy Show, Zig & Zag causing chaos on The Den, Italia ‘90, or that one ridiculous MTV bumper that everyone remembers. For you, it might be something completely different — and that’s the beauty of nostalgia.
PastCast is a completely free, swipe-based nostalgia app where you can jump between iconic clips from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s.
No logins
No data collection
Just pure memories in your pocket
We’ve had phenomenal feedback in testing — people watch with their kids, send clips to old friends, and rediscover moments they hadn’t thought about in decades.
Right now, everything runs via YouTube’s iFrame API, but we’re already speaking to broadcasters and content partners (RTÉ, NBC, BBC) about creating exclusive curated channels.
I’d love to know — what’s the one clip or moment you’d love to see on PastCast?
Drop it in the comments — I’ll try to get it uploaded this week. 🙌
Right now all content comes through the YouTube iFrame API — which means it’s streamed directly from the original source (no hosting, no copyright headaches).
We hand-pick every clip based on one simple filter: Does it instantly trigger that “I remember this!” feeling? That means a mix of iconic cultural moments, TV intros, ads, sports highlights, and music performances — all carefully chosen for emotional impact.
On the moderation side, we keep it tight:
Only verified sources with good resolution & sound quality
Regular pruning of anything that feels off-brand or low-impact
Community requests go through a quick curation check before they’re added
The spontaneity comes from how we mix eras and genres — you might swipe from a 90s cereal ad to a Live Aid clip to an early MTV bumper in seconds. That keeps the dopamine hit without letting quality slip.
We’ve also had some wildly good suggestions from early testers, and those often make it in within 24–48 hours — so there’s always something new to discover.
Big congrats on your launch too — just jumped over to check it out! 🚀

This is such a feel-good app! It’s so nice and refreshing not to have to sign in and remember log ins. Definitely one to check out and share with friends
This is amazing. So easy to use and brings back so many memories. I love how simple the concept is but the content is flawless. I didn’t need to sign up. I got instant access. Nice for a change!
OMG, this is truely awesome! No logins?! That's such a smart move, I hate signing up for stuff just to check something out. Swipe and play is perfect for those short bursts of nostalgia – exactly what I need after a long day. So, what's the plan for expanding beyond the 80s-00s?

What To Build
Fun concept short-form nostalgia is a great hook. Curious how you source and moderate content to keep it high‑quality without losing spontaneity.
We’re rolling out today as well would appreciate a quick look.
