What do you think? …

Hey, everyone. I'd like to mention that I'm not trying to replace WordPress, Ghost, or any other platform. I'm simply trying to offer an open alternative that I think many people will find more pleasant to use. But let's not ignore the elephant in the room. WordPress is doing so much more than blogging these days, and with more features come bloat and complexity. Furthermore, Matt has contradicting ideologies about his platform. On one hand, he wants to democratize publishing. On the other, he wants WordPress to power 100% of the web. We all know what happens when we're left with just one choice in the market. (Here's looking at you, IE6!) What Particle offers is a fresh option that puts the focus back on blogging. It brings a beautiful way to write content and a simple way to design themes. It's code base is easy to understand (and therefore contribute to) and doesn't clutter the global namespace with functions and variables. Yes, it's written in boring old PHP instead of Node.js, but it's easy to install and manage on your own. To be clear: I have nothing but love for Ghost, but Node and Markdown aren't technologies that the majority of people are comfortable with. That may change in 10 years, but we need something now. Particle is a forward thinking app built for *today*. Whether you're frustrated with traditional blogging software or just curious about Particle, I encourage you to check out the Kickstarter and make contribution of even $1. A share on Twitter also wouldn't hurt :) All that out of the way, I'm more than happy to answer any questions you have about Particle right here on Product Hunt!

This is cool. I also hate the current options out there. I like how it's a drag and drop platform a la a front end editor for web sites... can't wait to use it.

@samir_doshi It's a familiar sentiment. They use WP because they have to, not because they want to. The difficulty I'm having is getting the word out. I even built stories.producthunt.com to run on Particle, but it seems to have fallen on deaf ears: http://ph-stories.particle.softw...
