At Parkese, We've been building a parking management platform for Indian malls and offices for the last few years. Early on, we hit a wall: no ALPR API on the market could reliably read Indian plates.
The reasons were stupid but real:
→ Maharashtra plates are often in Marathi (Devanagari script)
→ UP plates use Hindi numerals - ०१२३४५
→ BH-series plates have a completely different format
→ Every global ALPR API we tried was trained on US/EU plates and
returned garbage on Devanagari
So we built our own. It powered our parking sites for a year, customers kept asking if they could buy just the ALPR layer - so today we're shipping it standalone.
