Parergon (formerly MetaScope) is a native Mac workspace for photo and video metadata. Edit EXIF, IPTC and XMP across 50+ formats, including RAW. Fix dates, rename files, add GPS and copyright, and apply templates and keyword vocabularies in batches. Find photos by meaning and review on-device AI keyword and description suggestions before saving. Browse Apple Photos and export metadata or PDF/HTML portfolios. Free plan with optional Pro. Requires macOS 15.4+ and Apple silicon.

Hi Product Hunt,
MetaScope is now Parergon, with a new home at https://parergon.io. It is the same app: existing subscriptions, libraries, templates and settings carry over.
I built it because photo metadata work is still too fragmented. Fixing a camera clock, adding copyright to a whole shoot or making an archive searchable should feel like a clear, considered workflow on your Mac.
Parergon brings EXIF, IPTC and XMP editing for photos and videos into one native workspace, with support for 50+ formats including RAW. You can correct dates, rename files, update GPS, apply reusable templates and manage keywords with controlled vocabularies and rules.
The workspace now also includes on-device intelligence: find photos by describing what they show, review suggested keywords and descriptions, translate metadata and group photos into events. Image analysis stays on your Mac, and you review proposed changes before writing them to your files.
You can browse Apple Photos, search indexed metadata, compare files and export metadata or PDF and HTML portfolios.
The free plan includes metadata viewing, browsing and five edits a day. Optional Parergon Pro unlocks unlimited editing, batch tools and advanced intelligence workflows. Requires macOS 15.4 or later and Apple silicon.
I would love to hear from photographers, archivists and anyone who has spent too much time fixing dates, GPS, keywords or IPTC fields. Which part of your metadata workflow would you most like to improve?
Happy to answer questions.
