What do you think? …

A few weeks ago, a couple friends and I were talking about startup ideas and we discussed "scanning as a service" for notebooks and scrapbooks. So I was surprised to find this today! Although I don't use paper notebooks, if I did I imagine I'd love a service like this.

This reminds me of @jon's Mod Notebooks.

Their sample is incredibly compressed—anyone know the details of their scan resolution? Is non-photo blue picked up? What's the deliverable filetype?

Got a response via email: they improved the example on their page—they scan at ~300 DPI and deliver full res PDF.

Just noticed that @PaperSync_co is closed (was playing with the PH API). Sobering reminder of what startups are up against... :( @rrhoover: Is this the first example of a product shutting down after being hunted? From their site: "Innovation is messy. When we started PaperSync, it was with a hunch that a lot of people like us would be excited to finally have a service for digitizing their paper notebooks. Unfortunately, we did not see the traction that we were hoping for, so it is time to close up shop and move on. Thank you for your interest. Specifically, thank you for supporting the culture of innovation that makes it possible for so many new ideas to see the light of day and have a shot at making people’s lives better. All the best, Team PaperSync"
