Hey everyone!
I wanted to share a tool I’ve been working on recently. I was honestly a bit tired of always uploading files to third-party clouds just to move them between my own devices, or constantly hitting annoying size limits and worrying about privacy.
So, I built a completely serverless, peer-to-peer file transfer utility that runs entirely right in your browser.
The concept is simple: your files go directly from your device to the recipient's device via WebRTC data channels. To keep things completely secure, everything is encrypted on the client side using AES-256-GCM through Rust compiled to WebAssembly. This means the architecture is entirely zero-knowledge — your data never touches a server, it’s never cached, and nobody can intercept it.
Connecting devices takes just a few seconds. You can either copy a quick signaling key or just scan a QR code if you're moving files between your PC and phone, which is how I mostly use it.
One thing I'm particularly happy with is how it handles heavy files. It utilizes the File System Access API to stream data chunks directly into the selected folder. This completely avoids browser memory crashes when you transfer something massive, and there's a clean fallback for browsers that don't support it yet.
The project is 100% open-source, transparent, and has absolutely zero trackers or analytics.
