Hi Product Hunt! I saw people collecting Open Source alternatives on Github. Which is awesome btw, but I thought there was a better way to do this. I wanted to build a nice and clean UI and nice filters to filter projects by tech, platform, use case, and license. This project is a work in progress and the following things are live: - Filtering and searching based on platform, tech, and license for projects. - Dedicated newsletter for businesses being built on Open Source. - Submissions from users. - Source code: https://github.com/prithvi16/oss... The following things are planned for the future: - User reviews for projects, will be screened for spam. - User-based edits for projects. More transparency in moderation. - Karma for users based on edits. - Once I gain enough traction I plan to release the source code under MIT and the collected data in CSV files for everyone to download. - A job board for companies using Open Source tools for monetization.

?makers This is a great idea. The search seems a little counter-intuitive though. When someone goes to a site like this they're usually trying to replace a non-open source package. So my instinct would be to go and search for "Google Keep" or "notes" so that I could get a list of OSS note applications. As it stands now, the search bar sort of implies you already know the name of the packages you're looking for. When I typed in "Google Keep" I got no results. When I typed in "notes" Joplin didn't show up (which is one of the better known replacements). If I type in "Joplin", there it is. Also I am curious if there is a specific way this is better than or differs from https://alternativeto.net/ which has been around for some time.

@punk_cakes Thanks for checking it out. That is a good idea. I will update search for keywords related proprietary peers or their function. As per alternative.to , yes this is a much similar site. But going forward focus will be on Open Source software and everything related to it. Also it doesn't hurt to have a alternative to alternative.to ;)
