Scalable usage metering for AI and DevOps companies. OpenMeter provides accurate billing integrations, real-time customer dashboards, threshold notifications, and usage gating. Available as Open Source and Cloud.
Looks like an impressive product. How user-friendly is the OpenMeter platform for companies with varying levels of technical expertise? Any specific onboarding strategies in place?
Thanks, @william_woods! The platform is primarily designed for engineers, yet by offering a managed service and a user-friendly interface atop the open-source solution, we have successfully made it accessible and appealing to a broader audience. Our free plan simplifies the process of experimenting with various meters, allowing users to easily explore and test different configurations.
This looks such an amazing tool. Can you share some success stories or testimonials from early adopters of OpenMeter? Excited to hear about real-world impacts!
@emma_watson21 Hi Emma, early users achieved great success with usage limit enforcement. Companies can have 10+ usage quotas they need customers to stay under to be profitable. Or some simply didn't enforce plan limits before. So OpenMeter was a great help for them to both push people towards larger plans and to control cost of expensive users. You can read more about the topic in one of our recent blog post: https://openmeter.io/blog/preven...
Hi @itsawaisyounas, we currently support webhooks, where we deliver the aggregated values for each of your customers (called subjects in OpenMeter) periodically and with guarantees. With the current solution, you need to call the billing system in the webhook handler as described here for Stripe: https://openmeter.io/docs/report.... At the same time, we're designing tailored integration for Stripe and then later for other billing systems. Please let us know your ideal integration and billing system we should support!
@itsawaisyounas On the accuracy and technical side: We use Temporal workflow management to ensure exactly-once delivery of usage data to external systems. Currently, our integrations are webhook-based and are generic. To deliver webhooks safely, we use Svix, which supports idempotency and retries.
@teddyni Yes, we do! It works through our usage reporting webhooks. To integrate with Slack we use our webhook provider Svix. They have a Slack integration to route webhooks into Slack channels and format messages. It's called transformation, a powerful tool.
You can find our docs about how to do it: https://openmeter.io/docs/report...
