Hey Product Hunt 👋
Quick pitch: Open Papertrade is a full retail-trading playground. You get a
virtual portfolio with fake money, place real orders against live market
data, and learn how it feels to actually trade without any risk. Around that
core, I built the tools I always wished I had while learning: a strategy
backtester, an AI coach that studies your trades, a research assistant that
reads SEC filings for you, and copy trading so you can mirror people who
know what they're doing.
Quick primer if you're new to "paper trading": it's a virtual trading
account. Real prices, real market hours, real order types. Fake money. It's
how professional traders test strategies before touching a live account, and
it's how new retail traders learn without blowing up their savings. Every
"buy" and "sell" you make is logged the same way a real broker would — you
just don't lose anything if you're wrong.
Here's what you get in one platform:
1. Paper trading on live markets
• Real-time quotes from actual market data providers
• Market and limit orders, cancels, partial fills; everything a real broker
does.
• Multi-asset, multi-currency, multi-market (US, India, EU tickers all
supported)
• Watchlists, price alerts, transaction history
• Full portfolio analytics - equity curve, allocation, P/L per position
2. Strategy backtester
• Build a trading strategy from common indicators and rules (moving averages,
RSI, breakouts, whatever)
• Run it over any historical window, on any ticker
• Get the equity curve, win rate, drawdown, Sharpe, and every simulated
trade in a browseable log
• Save strategies, iterate, compare runs
3. AI Coach that reads your trades
• Studies your actual trading history, not textbook advice
• Detects behavioral patterns: revenge trades, overconfidence after wins,
cutting winners too early, holding losers too long
• Gives you a "behavior score" across multiple dimensions
• Interactive chat about your positions ("why did I lose money on AAPL this
month?")
• Refuses to answer when it doesn't have enough data; no hollow advice
4. SEC Filings Research Analyst
• Paste any SEC filing URL (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K), wait a minute, ask questions
• Every factual sentence has an inline citation that links back to
the exact passage on sec.gov; click and verify
• When retrieval doesn't find a supporting chunk, the system declines with a
fixed message instead of making something up
• Ships with an eval harness (recall@k, MRR, faithfulness, refusal accuracy)
so quality claims come with numbers, not vibes
• You can bring your own PDF corpus, not just SEC filings
5. Copy trading + social
• Follow top traders on the leaderboard, automatically mirror their trades
with configurable delay and capital allocation
• Pause, resume, or stop copying anytime
• Social feed showing what people you follow are doing
• Achievements, XP, streaks — the fun part

What I'd love feedback on:
1. If you're new to trading, does the platform actually help you learn or
does it feel intimidating?
2. Which feature would you use most? Paper trading, backtester, AI Coach,
filings research, or copy trading?
3. Any patterns you'd add to the AI Coach?
4. If you're technical: does the refusal behavior on filings feel honest or
annoying?
