hey everyone,
i built this because i kept seeing the same thing happen to travelers in sri lanka. they land excited, then spend the first couple days second-guessing everything — what’s safe to eat, whether they’re getting charged too much, what a sign actually means, or if that random situation feels off. guidebooks are outdated fast and most ai tools just guess confidently, which can make things worse.
We started with a simple community q&a because real answers usually come from locals and people who’ve actually been here recently. but a lot of questions people have need answers right now, not after waiting for someone to reply. that’s where serendai came in.
Instead of just plugging in a normal chatbot, we tried to ground it properly — using live data + actual local knowledge from the community so it doesn’t just make stuff up. the photo thing (pointing your camera at food or a sign) is one of the parts i’m most excited about because it solves a very specific, annoying problem in the moment.
Still early days and we’re learning as we go, but the goal is pretty simple: make traveling around sri lanka feel less stressful and more enjoyable, especially if you’re doing it independently.
Would be good to hear what you guys think — especially if you’ve traveled here before or built anything in this space.

Asked it about getting from Kandy to Ella with a stop in Nuwara Eliya and it actually gave me train times plus a hostel rec that wasnt on every other booking site, kind of impressed

Have you thought about adding offline access for the itinerary and key info Once someone is out in places like Ella or the hill country, connectivity is spotty and that would make this a real lifesaver on the ground.

finally tried it out for a sri lanka trip and the local recs actually feel legit, not just generic travel blog stuff.
