Hi Product Hunt 👋, and thanks @chrismessina for hunting me! I'm really excited to finally launch Octauthent, a product I've been working on for the last few months. Octauthent is a free service to protect all or a part of your site with a login form 🔒, without a single line of code! There are already dozens of authentication solutions on the market, but they all assume you're an experienced developer, when in fact, you may not even have access to your website code. Thanks to the way it is designed, Octauthent acts as a proxy, which can be plugged to any kind of website, hosted on any kind of platform. I hope you'll like Octauthent as much as I do! wow, this looks great Boris! would love to play around with octauthent very soon. I would love to know what is the reason behind offering this for free? while other services are paid/need some sort of Dev work.

@fardeenkhan Hi Fardeen! Thanks for your feedback! I plan to add paid but optional features later, but these will be advanced features, and they are not ready yet! Thanks to the Cloudflare infrastructure, the hosting costs of Octauthent are low enough to stay 100% free for a long time, even with a lot of users / traffic

For someone with a small network bigger authentication systems can be very cumbersome so this simple interface seems like a delight !

Can you provide some example use cases? The site is a bit light on the "why" and "how" - eg why would I use this on a WP site? How would it lock off gated content etc?

Here are some of the scenarios encountered by current Octauthent users: - A content creator who wants to offer exclusive content to VIP users only - A big website owner who needs to stop the traffic during site maintenance - A website that can be seen only by users of a private forum - A development team who needs to protect the "development" version of their website You're right about the homepage being a little bit light. I'll try to add some example use cases soon!
