Hello Hunters and Makers,π
We are Minho and Winnie, and we built
NomadWallet app to help people to track expenses for each place they go.
π‘ We came up with this idea 2 years ago while doing a 6-month-honeymoon as backpackersπ, and we could not find a good app to track our expenses without resetting the data every time we moved to a new country.
A year ago we decided to learn to code and NomadWallet is our first app ever. Weβve been building this app for more than 2 months, including many days for fixing bugs and editing features.
πWith NomadWallet π± you can:
- Create a trip with multiple currencies : say you are in Thailand - you can add expenses for Pad Thai in Thai Baht, as well as business-related costs in Singapore dollars, and show expenses in your home currency. You can add up to 5 currencies per trip.
- End receipt clutter: snap the receipt and save its photo when you add expenses during your travel.
- Quickly check how much you spent in your own country's currency and local currencies.
- Quickly view your expenses by trip, month, day. You can see your daily average spend on the trip to have better control of your money.
- Create a future trip and add your flight ticket or accommodation costs.
- Add your beautiful travel photoπ to the home screen.
- Customize categories to suit your needs
πWhatβs in the NEXT version?
- Split an expense in several ways
- Wallet sharing feature
- Currency converter
We hope you can now spend less time managing your expenses and focus on enjoying your beautiful trips. π
Built and tested by travelers.π
HUGE thanks to the Women Make and Makers' Kitchen communities. The support from you leads us here.ππ
Let us know what you think in here, and don't hesitate to ask even the craziest questions. I and Minho (the introvert guy π³) will be around to answer.
Let me introduce you Wooriπ», the mascot of NomadWallet.
Thank you!β€οΈ
@nhuphan0404 Congrats on your first launch Winnie and Minho! (And Woori π±)
I LOVE that you learned to code so that you could solve your own problem. I totally suffer massively from receipt clutter so am excited to use this and go paperless. Great job!!
@nextstevejob: yes, the most popular question is when are you going to make android version ? we for sure will do. for the latter, we are not sure but will put in on the list, wonder if you use card frequently when you are traveling from country to country? does it mean we have to work with many international banks?
Awesome! π I wanted to ask about receipt snapping - does it use CV to get the amount spent on each purchase? That's really impressive - I can see how (probably) painful it was to train/figure out the algorithm for each language/country/currency signs.
@zelena hi thank you, user takes a photo of receipt and saves it on the expense entry. we don't use character recognition, user still needs to input the amount by themselves. but I will take your idea for future version.

Well donnne! π€ I wanted to know if there is a system of back-up ? let say I delete the app, will I get everything back in when installing it again ? using iCloud maybe ?
Well done though :) we need more app for nomads! πΊπΊ meow
@xgopox Thanks for your feedack π We are considering back-up & share feature for next version. Currently save datas on the local. Update will be very soon, so please don't delete app until then π
@cynthiajaggi hi Cynthia, thank you for your feedback, and sorry for late reply. NomadWallet is specificaly designed as personal expenses trackers for travelers, nomads, backpackers to add expense quickly on the road. And we got feedbacks about the need of travel expense tracker for employees so they can claim to the company, but we see many giants in the market already. Would love to hear more about your experience using Nomadwallet.
Congratulations for both of you, Winnie and Minho! ππ»ππ»ππ»
Itβs a good launch indeed!
Btw, is there any reason why you donβt build the web version first? Since a lot of people will benefit from doing so (i.e not tied to specific device).
@wilbertliu hey thanks, the app is designed for nomads/ travellers, they don't always have the internet with them when they are on the road, and most of the time when they pay they are in the restaurant or street shop, need an app to quick install under 20 secs, we believe app works better in this case. And yes android version will come :D thank you for your asking, we love to be asked <3
