I'm digging the design and simplicity of (naow). Signup, choose an avatar, enter a username, and ask hyper-local questions. Interestingly, you can choose how wide the question is broadcasted to those around you (e.g. w/in 1 mile, 2 miles, etc.).
The app has some similarities to Popcorn Messaging (http://www.popcornmap.com/) but focused on asynchronous Q&A.
The app isn't available in the App Store yet but here's a link to download the beta (open this on your iOS device - http://naow.com/early)
I haven't tried (naow) but I did invest in a similar company, Localmind, which was acquired by Airbnb. Turns out people didn't have enough questions (although people were willing to answer questions, even to strangers).
