I built My Trusted Brands to solve three specific problems I ran into as an online shopper myself: 1. Brand accountability and option overload Have you recently searched for an item and been unable to find a result from a name you recognize? Take "athletic shorts", for example - thousands of results from hundreds of brands - making an informed choice feels impossible. Wouldn't it be nice to have a smaller list of the items I know I can trust? I want the product I buy not to have harmful chemicals, quality control issues, or missing warranties. By shopping traditional brands, you put trust in their histories of operations and accountability which can help protect you as a consumer if things go wrong. But sometimes those hands are busy. With online shopping, it's difficult to keep track of the brands that align with your values, but it doesn't need to be. That's why MyTrustedBrands' Our Trusted Brands list includes brands from Veterans, Environmentally Friendly brands, Black-owned businesses, and more. That's also why we enable our users to customize their brand lists, and share them with others. Third-party sellers Any product can be sold by the store itself or by independent third-party sellers; the listings don't always make it obvious. While most third-party sellers are legitimate and responsible, as shoppers, it's hard to know those you can trust. My Trusted Brands can filter your search to established sellers such as Amazon or Walmart themselves by using our "Hide third party sellers" toggle. Wow, crazy to see Josh Pigford was working on this same problem at the same time as me, Knockoff & MyTrustedBrands both looking to solve a similar problem - consumer distrust and quality brands on Amazon.
