MyTaxMate is a tax assistant for Malaysians who file their own income tax. SmartScan reads a receipt in about 2 seconds and sorts it into the right relief or expense. Your EA form scans too. The relief finder suggests what you may qualify for, with the LHDN rule behind it. The filing co-pilot then rebuilds your MyTax form screen by screen and shows you what goes in every box. You still submit it yourself. Form BE and Form B. Web, iOS and Android. Not affiliated with LHDN.
Hi Product Hunt 👋
I built MyTaxMate after LHDN, our tax authority, fined me RM8,000. Two honest mistakes. I claimed home loan interest in the wrong year, and I claimed my thyroid medication as a medical relief when my condition was not on the qualifying list. Both felt reasonable at the time. Neither was.
Filing tax in Malaysia is not hard because the maths is hard. It is hard because nobody tells you which reliefs you actually qualify for, and the government portal gives you a numbered box with no explanation of what belongs in it.
So MyTaxMate does two things. You snap a receipt and SmartScan sorts it into the right relief in about 2 seconds, no typing. Then when it is time to file, the co-pilot rebuilds the real MyTax screens beside yours and shows you exactly what goes in every box.
It never files for you. You submit it yourself on MyTax, and I think that line matters. The tax engine follows LHDN's published rules and has been reviewed by a licensed tax agent, so the accuracy does not rest on my own tax knowledge, which as you can tell was not great 😅
There is a free plan that covers the whole app, so you can try the full thing before paying for anything.
Would love your feedback, especially from anyone who has tried building for one country's tax system.
