What do you think? …

Pieter Haasbroek
Hey everyone, Pieter here, and I'm incredibly excited (and a little nervous!) to share my project with you all. I know what you’re thinking: “15 apps in one day? Is this guy crazy?” The answer is… maybe a little! This whole journey started with a simple request from my girlfriend for a gardening app. True to form, I went a bit overboard. Two grueling weeks and a lot of 14-hour days later, that one app had blossomed into the Utility Suite: 15 Free Tools for Everyday Life. Who am I? My day job is a bit unusual—I'm a literary preservationist. I spend my time unearthing and reviving classic South African pulp fiction from the 1950s, bringing forgotten stories of masked heroes and lost civilizations to a new generation of readers. My passion is giving people joy through stories. So, how does a book guy with zero programming experience end up here? Curiosity, a personal challenge, and the incredible power of AI tools like Google Gemini and Grok. They enabled me to turn ideas into reality, and I wanted to see if I could build tools that, like my books, could bring a little value and help to people's lives. This suite is for everyone—developers, designers, people at home, or at work. My goal was simple: create a collection of useful, online utilities to help solve everyday problems, all 100% free and accessible to anyone who can't afford expensive software. A Personal Favorite 🪴 If you check out just one, make it Plantright. As a former Agrometeorology researcher, this one is close to my heart. It contains essential info for growing the 27 most common vegetables and herbs, perfect for any garden anywhere in the world. This is where you come in! I've done my best to squash every bug, but I know they're hiding in there! Finding them helps me improve the tools and prepare for the professional versions I'm planning. I would be so grateful for your feedback. I'd love to know: • Which of these 15 apps would be most useful for you? • I'd love to know which tool you're most excited to try first! • Is there a tool you think is missing from this collection? You can download it here: https://magicebooks.sendibble.co... Thank you so much for your time and support. I truly hope you get years of value from these tools. Enjoy! — Pieter

An enormous thank you to the incredible Product Hunt community!

Hey everyone,

Pieter here, and I'm absolutely blown away by the response to the Utility Suite. When I first shared my project, I was a bundle of nerves. To see so many of you not only try out the tools but also offer such valuable feedback and kind words has been more rewarding than I could have ever imagined.

From a simple request for a gardening app from my girlfriend to a suite of 15 tools, this has been a wild and rewarding journey. As a literary preservationist, my world is usually filled with the heroes of classic pulp fiction, not lines of code. Your enthusiasm for this project, born out of a personal challenge and powered by the magic of AI, has been truly inspiring.

I've been meticulously going through all your comments and suggestions. Your feedback is already helping me squash bugs and plan for the future professional versions. It's so exciting to hear which of the 15 apps you're finding most useful and your ideas for new tools to add to the collection.

For those who have asked, you can still sign up to be notified when the pro versions are ready right here: https://15freeapps.netlify.app/

And if you haven't grabbed it yet, my gift to you, a classic Sahara adventure ebook, is still available for download here:
