Review Modal?
Reviewers are overwhelmingly positive, though the feedback here comes almost entirely from founders rather than end users. The repeated theme is that Modal makes heavy compute, sandboxes, and serverless GPU workloads feel simple to ship in Python, with fast spin-up, clean workflows, strong scaling, and little infrastructure overhead. Makers of Fathom, viktor.com, and Kodezi describe it as core infrastructure for agents, isolated sandboxes, and AI pipelines, especially when teams want reliability without building a platform layer.

Modal gives us fast spin up times, simple serverless workflows, and a clean developer experience. It let us prototype Kodezi pipelines without managing GPUs or infra overhead. The combination of speed, scale, and low friction made it easier to iterate than the alternatives.
We use Modal to run all of Pioneer's fine-tuning and inference workloads. We evaluated running our own GPU infra on AWS and tried a few other serverless GPU providers, but Modal was the only one where spinning up an H100 job felt as easy as calling a Python function.
Shoutout to Modal for running our models. Outpainting full films takes serious GPU horsepower, and Modal lets us scale that compute up and down without ever thinking about servers. It's been a game changer for us.
Modal is used to host sandboxes (ephemeral) when editing dashboards (unpublished). The integration, management and sandbox performance has been excellent, particularly compared to and after trialing other products
We needed serverless GPU access for RL training without managing infrastructure. Modal lets us spin up L40S and A10 GPUs with a Python decorator, no Dockerfiles or cluster configs required.
Modal made spinning up serious compute feel like running a script on your laptop. Viktor Skills does the same for company work - install, run, done. No setup, no tickets, no waiting.
