MilkMade is a free feeding tracker (ad supported) for every baby. Whether you are mother who breastfeeds or pumps, or parents who are bottle-feeding with formula or from a milk bank, MilkMade is there for you. The app was built by my wife (A Registered Midwife) and I, developing a solution that is simple, clear and easy to use during a 3am feed. We have a Pro Subscription that provides the support when you need it most, giving you context behind the numbers that you are tracking.
Hi Product Hunt, I'm Patrick Hall. I built MilkMade with my wife, Amanda Hall.
Amanda is a Registered Nurse, Midwife and mother, and she's passionate about helping and educating parents. Amanda has on many occasions helped mothers who desperately want to breastfeed but struggle with their milk production, and has reassured mothers who feel guilty for switching to formula. These pressures are difficult and personal but Amanda has always positioned herself under the motto of “Every Feeding Journey Matters”.
MilkMade is the culmination of everything we wanted in a feeding tracker, after tracking in every way possible: paper, notebooks, notes apps, subscriptions… you name it, we tried it with all three of our children.
MilkMade was built to be feeding-first, whatever feeding journey you're on: breastfeeding, pumping, or bottle feeding with formula or milk from your stash. Amanda wanted an app that captured the journey in its totality, using her experience and expertise, while I wrote the code, sifting through tutorials and textbooks, browsing Pinterest and watching countless YouTube videos.
The things we did differently:
We believe tracking should be free, for every baby. Whether you have one baby or more, you can track without a cap. It doesn't matter if you only log overnight feeds or every single one; it's always available, albeit ad-supported.
This isn't just a pump log. It's a milk bank you can rely on. If you're a pumping mother, knowing how much you have, how much your baby is consuming and how long your supply will last is so important.
Things that changed during development:
Moving to free, unlimited, ad-supported tracking was a difficult decision. Initially, the plan was to meter usage: 80 logged sessions, then a Pro subscription. But there's nothing worse than hitting a paywall when you're at your most tired. It happened to us, and it felt disingenuous.
That led to the biggest change we made, and we've spent the last nine months building it: tracking is free, but you pay for support when you need it most. Amanda has used her expertise to provide guidance, reassure you when the numbers look strange, and support you with digestible, easy-to-understand articles. That's where we believe the value is: knowing you're not the only one with an odd question, and putting context to your data without the medical jargon.
We've made it as simple as possible. There's no login, no hard paywall, and your feeding data stays on your phone. This was an intentional choice, and while it made things harder to build, we believe your baby's feeding journey is personal and not something to be fed to an algorithm.
We think MilkMade will be genuinely helpful to the people who use it. MilkMade Pro ($8.99AUD/month or $79.99AUD/year, localized to your country) unlocks a full guidance library, smart insights, deeper trends and no ads.
This means we can build out a healthy library of guidance from experts like Amanda, so you don't have to needlessly Google or ask an AI chatbot. It also lets us focus our efforts on the things our families want most.
For those who've tracked feeds or used other tracking apps: what did you most want from the app, and did it deliver?
