Miley is "Magic for Work". You text a number, and Miley will serve as your personal job agent to find you the best match for a part-time job.
The current process of applying for jobs — having to create new accounts for every job portal, uploading and re-uploading the same information for each new application, and watching your resume go into abyss without any certainty of hearing back from anyone — is a super painful experience that no one enjoys.
We’re hoping to make the process of applying to jobs easier and delightful with Miley. Would love your feedback and happy to answer any questions! :)
@kibaekr this could be huge with low-income workers in India, as that is how the economy works there - plumbers, builders, handymen etc basically receive an sms with their job for that day. Super fragmented gigantic market.

@kibaekr I just tried out the service. What's the timeline for offering part time jobs outside of SF and NY?
@msitver@kibaekr Hey Michael, we are starting off by working with the relations we have with employers through OnboardIQ. OnboardIQ manages the heavy lifting of the backend side of hiring, and we are able to leverage this to help applicants schedule directly with our OnboardIQ customers that need help with sourcing.
@michaelhwan@kibaekr Hey Michael! We'd first like to nail down how to effectively source high-quality applicants in the geographies that we are most familiar with before expanding our services.
Forget terrible job portals, classifieds, Craigslist, and never hearing back. Just text Miley.
Based on your schedule, desired pay, and skills, she will research and send your profile straight to the perfect company for you, skipping the line entirely.
Excited to get your thoughts!
How are you gonna streamline the back and forth of txts? I'm worried I'll get into a 20-minute txting conversation to list out skills, location, experience, etc.
@_danfriedman Thanks for the note, Dan!
We're still figuring out the best way to cut down the conversation and still pull meaningful insight for the companies we source for. That said, we've worked with companies to trim the conversation down to an average of 5 minutes so we can quickly shortlist relevant applicants.
@jjeremycai@_danfriedman This is a super interesting problem. It's like 20 questions - you'll probably end up doing a kind of binary search over the space of possible candidate profiles. Curious to see what the final set of Qs is!
Great idea. I was just thinking about how annoying and burdensome the job application process is. This is a great solution. Cant wait to see what Miley is going to blossom into. Maybe even carry over into internships? Congrats!
Cool stuff, job applications definitely need to be on mobile and this is as easy as it gets! We're in a similar space (believe strongly in SMS as a channel of communication), tweet me @neewho if you want to chat about SMS :).

@neewho I find it sorta interesting that so many countries abandoned SMS in favor of online chat utilities like Messenger and WhatsApp. Yet, we're coming back to it. It's kinda awesome!
