Metrist monitors cloud dependencies to let you know how outages are specifically affecting your app – about 20 minutes before the vendor’s status page is updated. All your statuses for all your apps, all in one place.
Hi Product Hunt! We are excited to be launching today and would love your feedback.
My co-founder and I come from PagerDuty and New Relic where we were early employees in Engineering and Product. Through our work there, we found a problem: Modern apps are built on top of other apps, and when those dependencies go down our software risks going down, but most observability tools focus on 1st party apps rather than 3rd parties. During an incident, we are stuck looking for an answer to the question "is it me or is it them" while incident response drags. When selecting and managing cloud vendors, we are left without a clear picture of the reliability of all the third-party cloud dependencies that underpin our software and our businesses.
Metrist offers direct observability of the cloud products that power modern software. Everything from EKS, to Twilio, GitHub, and more.
Metrist uses a combination of functional testing and in-app monitoring to paint a complete picture of cloud dependency health, with alerting and enough detail to understand what’s happening, who is impacted, and how.
Our value isn’t telling you about major outages. Rather, the depth of our visibility allows us to offer so much more – which you can read about in this submitted blog post that goes into detail about some of the interesting things we’ve uncovered and how we’ve helped our design partners while in beta.
Thanks for checking us out, we’d truly love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
Metrist is awesome! It’s saved our team from lots of problems over the last year of using it. Outages are bad, worse when you don’t know what the problems is. I’m never again having a customer ask “are you guys down?”. We already know what the issue is and have notified our users, all thanks to Metrist!

Congrats @jmartens and team! An early warning system for outages is sorely needed. I've been waiting for something like this for a long time! I'm quite curious how how this might help with Cloud to Edge architectures?

@jmartens Congratulations and best of luck on the launch , i know this will be a successful project :)
More apps than ever count on external APIs and they rarely have observability of their performance. Stoked to see the team focused on this problem!

So many vendors do a poor job of updating their status page (incl. some top cloud providers).
A tool like this is super critical for dev teams to understand if an issue is their fault or a vendors. Also useful to keep vendors accountable, particularly doing renewal.
Congratulations to the team on the launch!
At #paid, we find great value in using Metrist.io to keep an eye on our 3rd party dependencies right from within Slack. It is really helping us respond to incidents faster and focus our effort where and when it matters. Having worked closely with Jeff and his team over the last year as design partners, it has been been amazing to see how Metrist.io has grown to cover such a great selection of 3rd party tools with both their functional tests and status page integrations. We are also considering exploring in-app monitoring in the near future.
We are excited to see what the future brings for Metrist.io. Best of luck!
