Hello 👋 My name is Dmitry. I'm the CTO @veliovgroup and creator of Meteor Files. Over the past nine years, I have been working on developing and maintaining the most popular file-upload library for Meteor.js, which is used by thousands of developers across hundreds of projects globally. Through this experience, I have gained extensive knowledge about file uploads and distribution. For the past four years, I have been incubating this idea for a new file upload service that is unlike anything currently available. My goal is to create the most reliable, resilient, and durable file upload and sharing service on the market, with features that are not present in any of the existing competitors. By combining my experience and expertise with the skills of the @veliovgroup team in software development, process management, planning, and UI/UX design, we have achieved excellent results. After months of development, we are pleased to release Meteor Files into the wild. We are a small, bootstrapped, and self-funded team with extensive experience contributing and maintaining FOSS (free open source software) made for JavaScript/Node.js/NPM and Meteor.js ecosystems. Our packages are used by thousands of developers in hundreds of websites, services, and apps around the globe. This is just the beginning for Meteor Files. We have many new features planned for future releases (some marked as "coming soon" on the Meteor Files website) and a backlog of tasks spanning months ahead. Sign up for Meteor Files today to support its future development. Meteor Files: For whom? This is for individuals and teams who need to upload and share files robustly and consistently. It is also for anyone who wish to have the option to close the computer, interrupt the internet connection, switch between Wi-Fi, or switch devices during upload — all without losing progress and continuing to upload where it left off. Meteor Files: What problem are we solving? 1. First of all — we aim to save you time by giving you the flexibility of moving around and switching between devices during important upload 2. Recover interrupted uploads 3. Start uploading on one device and continue on another 4. Upload files larger than 5TB 5. Upload 1000s of files in a single batch 6. Access to custom storage size on demand — up to 100TB If you have any questions or feedback, please leave them in the comments below. We will be happy to provide an answer.

@veliovgroup @smart_egg Love the product! Where uploaded files are stored?
Dmitriy A.
@marik228 thank you for the feedback and question. Files are in the secure storage within EU, very similar to S3 with multiple replications, stored in obfuscated manner, no filenames, no mime-types, no meta-data stored along with it. We do not process uploaded files in any way — no previews nor thumbnails created for the uploaded files
Congrats on the launch @smart_egg and team meteor. Thank you so much for your OSS contributions all these years. I wish you all the best with Meteor Files. It's always good to see OSS contributors succeeding commercially.

Wow - I love this. First, I just want to say I LOVE your UI. Your whole website is so clean and compelling, even if I knew nothing about the product I'd genuinely *want* to use your site! Second, your pricing plans are brilliant. Super sympathetic to the little guy. The ability to set up a personal account for £1.99 makes this amazingly accessible for anyone from first-time founders to students. And the ability to buy extra storage at a flat rate? Incredible. And then obviously there's the product itself, which I don't have to say is just brilliant. So helpful, solves a real problem... everything I love to see in a Product Hunt launch. I hope you guys have a wonderful launch 🎉

Your dedication to creating a reliable and resilient file upload and sharing service is truly commendable. My question is: How does Meteor Files ensure the seamless continuation of uploads across different devices and network interruptions, and what technologies enable this capability?
Dmitriy A.
@yasec_kowalski Thank you for the feedback and your question. I tried to showcase technology, used stack, and tools we used for building the project, as much as was possible without leaking trade secret of our unique approach to uploading files, in this article at IH — https://www.indiehackers.com/pos...
