"The first step is always gathering data."
Discovering amazing newsletter isn't an easy job.
There is no SEO like we have for websites.
But is that really a problem?
This thought came to me first when one day, like any other day I opened my email after breakfast.
"Every day I read issues sent by newsletters. But I subscribed to them one day after reading an article. Maybe there are other publishers who write more about this particular topic. How can I find others?"
The basis of the problem is discoverability. All have different criteria to filter out posts they want to read. What I like you probably won't like it.
Now that we have AI even a non-tech person can filter posts they want to read. Without being at the mercy of algorithm.
But to filter you need data.
And that's the first problem I am tackling here. Collecting data.
Raw data does not just solve my problem. But many different type as well. Whether you are looking for sponsorships or want to analyze market. Or maybe newsletter owner are potential leads for your business.
The first step is always gathering data.
Merrygo is that. Newsletter database.
@mac_czaj Hi Maciej.
I gathered this data using common crawl index using my own pc.

Awesome launch! 1000 publishers for that price is amazing.
Would love to hear how you keep it updated/mark publishers as stale?
Congrats on the launch!
@esus Thanks for reaching out.
At this point I am not doing that. But I can think of one way of doing that.
-> Get links of all posts along with their date.
-> Find an average posting frequency
-> If last published article is 2x times of average posting frequency, its a good bet that publisher is stale.
Appreciate your comment. Its a useful metric that I didn't think of. :)
