I’m Orhan, the creator of Mergen: AI English Tutor.
Like many non-native English speakers, I spent years studying grammar rules, yet whenever I had to speak in real-life situations, I froze up. Hiring private tutors for daily practice gets expensive quickly, while traditional language apps mostly focus on repetitive vocabulary drills rather than actual spoken dialogue. Generic AI chatbots, on the other hand, just talk back to you — they don't teach or highlight your grammar and pronunciation mistakes as you speak.
I built Mergen to bridge this gap: a personal voice tutor that lets you practice speaking anytime without judgment, while actively helping you improve your accuracy.

Personalized Daily Missions (ContentSmith): Select your personal interests (tech, gaming, cinema, business) on day 1. Mergen generates daily practice missions tailored to your topics and weaves past grammar mistakes back into future prompts using Spaced Repetition (SRS).
Interactive Read & Listen Library: Read passages catered to your target CEFR level with karaoke-style live audio sync, tap any word for instant dictionary lookups, or import custom PDFs.
CEFR Trajectory & Analytics: Track your fluency evolution from A1 to C1 with interactive charts showing CEFR score trends and mistake heatmaps.

Frontend: React + Tailwind CSS packaged with Capacitor for Android.
Backend: Python (FastAPI + WebSockets) handling real-time audio streams.
Voice Pipeline: Whisper for Speech-to-Text, Kokoro ONNX for low-latency Text-to-Speech, and a custom LLM prompt engine that separates spoken audio replies from written corrections.
