Hey everyone! I’m Caelen, founder of MapMarket, and I wanted to share how this all started. A few months ago, I discovered that my custom cliff jumping map in Google MyMaps had amassed over 50,000 views. I wondered if there was a way to monetize it and discovered that countless other creators were struggling with the same problem. I spent hours digging through forums for a solution and came up empty handed. That’s when MapMarket was born. MapMarket is a 100% free platform where creators can upload their Google MyMaps or use our built-in editor to make new custom maps. Once you publish, you instantly get a public link that functions as both an ad and a display page for your map. While building the platform, I realized I could take SEO a step further: I optimized each map’s landing page so it would appear in organic search for relevant keywords (e.g., “cliff jumping spots in [location]”). In other words, your map becomes discoverable by travelers searching for exactly what you’ve curated. We launched this week, and to my surprise, our first users were up and running within minutes—and making sales almost immediately. Seeing creators monetize their maps so quickly (and earning our first commission fees!) was incredibly rewarding.
