How does it actually generate the narration and visuals for the chat-style stories — is it pulling from a stock library or something more custom, and do I get to tweak the pacing before it spits out the final video?
@nebahatkormazer Hi Nebahat, The narration is AI-generated and customizable, so you can choose the voice that best fits the story. The visual backgrounds are selected from our built-in stock video library rather than generated from scratch.
Before generating, you can edit the conversation, choose the theme, voice, and background video. The pacing is currently created automatically based on the narration and message length, rather than adjusted manually scene by scene.
how does it handle the voice side, like do i pick from a set of ai narrators or can i upload my own and have it sync everything around that?
@huriyedarka Hi Huriye, Right now, you can choose from a selection of AI narrators, and MakeShort automatically syncs the voiceover with the captions and visuals. Uploading your own voice or audio isn’t supported yet, but it’s something we plan to add.
How does it handle voice cloning or choosing the narration voice, and is the voice library built-in or do you bring your own?
@tayfunayak4oub Hi Tayfun, MakeShort currently has a built-in library of AI narration voices, so you can choose the one that best fits your video. Voice cloning and bringing your own voice aren’t supported yet, but we plan to add more custom voice options in the future.
Punched in a Reddit thread and got a usable vertical video in like two minutes, the captions lined up way better than I expected for a first pass. Curious how it handles longer scripts though.
@aytengulcaua1n Hi Ayten, thanks for trying it — glad the captions worked well! MakeShort currently supports scripts of up to 5,000 characters, and we can increase that limit if creators need more. Longer scripts won’t significantly slow down the generation process.
The idea-to-video flow feels genuinely fast, I dropped in a Reddit thread and had a usable short in minutes. Wish the caption styling had a few more options but the narration quality surprised me in a good way.

The Reddit story to short workflow actually works better than I expected. Caption timing synced up with the narration on the first try without me fiddling with anything.
