The idea came from something pretty mundane — watching how much paper receipts actually cost small merchants here, and how little they get out of it. Every receipt printed is a customer that walks out the door and disappears. No name, no way to reach them again, no idea if they're a regular or a first-timer. And on the flip side, the "digital receipt" solutions I looked at all wanted merchants to rip out their existing POS and start over — which is a nonstarter for a hawker stall or a small optical shop running on tight margins and zero appetite for downtime. So the constraint I set for myself was: nothing changes for the merchant's existing setup. Loopd sits alongside the POS, reads the transaction, and the customer just taps their phone to get a digital receipt — no app, no new hardware to learn, no disruption to how staff already work. I tested this with an actual optical shop here in Singapore (Yi Eyewerkz) as an early pilot, and that's really shaped how the product evolved — what started as "just a digital receipt" grew into loyalty points, queue management, and a lightweight CRM, because once a business can see who's walking through the door, they start asking for more ways to act on that. Loopd is still early — we're a newly registered Singapore business, pre-revenue, iterating fast.
