I built Locus because every lead-gen tool I found was either a paid SaaS with a monthly fee for something I could run myself, or a scraper with no real email verification built in. Locus does the search-to-lead pipeline end-to-end: pull businesses from Google Maps, then verify emails with a real SMTP handshake, not just an AI guess. You bring your own search API key and AI key, so there's no markup and no usage cap from me. What's in it right now: bulk search from a CSV (up to 50 searches at once), cross-session dedup so the same business found twice gets merged instead of duplicated, optional Hunter.io lookup, session comparison, and a Docker Compose stack that's actually been tested from cold start to finish. It's AGPL-3.0, so if you run a modified version as a service, your changes have to stay open too. Repo's at github.com/mabdullahb/Locus. Most lead-gen tools stop at "the AI thinks this is the right email." Locus does one more step: after the AI finds a candidate email, it does an actual MX lookup and SMTP handshake against the mail server, checking whether the mailbox exists, without ever sending anything. Only a confirmed rejection downgrades the AI's answer; an inconclusive result (a slow server, a greylist) leaves it standing.
