Too bad you need a computer to make it run. I wonder why there's no one HDMI input and an HDMI output so the colors detection can be made by the box itself.
@snapeuh I could see that as an additional feature in the future, but it makes me wonder if they'd have to deal with HDCP decoders for broadcast HD content and movies. That might be a more difficult technical feat than we realize.
I actually backed this on Kickstarter and was pretty disappointed. Half of the light strips are now faulty (started only a few months after receiving it) and the software never gets updated. Most people actually end up using Ambibox software instead. You can learn more about it at http://www.reddit.com/r/lightpack
@stephensilber thank you for the feedback! we recently fixed almost all of the major issues, including multi-monitor support. So just grab the latest version of Prismatik app from our website. And we are going to make a major release coming weeks with brand new UI
That's our pleasure to see all of you here!
just use "weloveproducthuntfellows" code to get 10$ off.

Lightpack 2 is on Kickstarter as of a few weeks ago, and it seems to improve most of the problems people had with V1. The light sensors seem better (full length strips vs small lights), and it works on devices besides computers (like gaming devices). I own V1, and I can say that for me, it's just 'ok'. Not sure if I'd go for V2, but thought I'd share the link regardless in case it hasnt been posted yet:

Nice to see a retail offering so one doesn't have to build their own from parts (Arduino, RGB LEDs, adapter, etc.).
Adds a great visual element to your media:
Havent seen such a good gadget and open source in awhile. im only a tad frustrated that i actually need a computer to run this, i would love to buy a rasberrypi board already preinstalled next to it so it is a complete product.
