What do you think? …

Josh Barkin
I'm trying to understand what the value proposition is here. Is there a problem with Uber?
Eli weiss (Elimelech)
@joshbarkin Looks like a open source platform more beneficial to the driver than the passenger, driver gets the full amount for the ride so the fares can probably be more competitive.
Josh Barkin
@eli_weiss Nah.... that never works out. Uber is such a dominant brand that even though they take a cut, they are on everyone's phones already and drive all of the business for drivers. It's a product customers already love. This open source software also has some cash negotiating thing. Who even wants that? The magic of Uber is you press a button and that's it.

@joshbarkin totally agree, drivers definitely like this option better though
Jacques van Heerden
@joshbarkin @eli_weiss if you live in Clarens, South Africa (6400 people) and a minimum wage of $0.8 per hour - there is no Uber and never will be. Therefore an open source platform that could be handled by an individual to make the locals have direct access to them on routes does deem its viability. Uber will never service every single town or village in the world, logistics in 3rd world countries become complicated. Cheers @romanpushkin for the development.

@jacquesvh that makes alot more sense, still trying to wrap my head around the security concerns. The bot doesn't ask for any driver background to background check etc.

While the hunt certainly fails at setting the context, I have gone to the founder's blog and it provides a better understanding of where he sees it going: Uber (and similar apps) will never reach many remote villages, cities and regions around the world (and don't have to), but technology could greatly help the local communities in solving their transportation problems that are as "simple" as getting from point A to point B with no other feasible options available. For more details, here's the blog: https://medium.com/@romanpushkin...

Is this a bot for Telegram?
Mehmet Perk
@ozkanaltuner seems so.

When cars don't require a driver anymore, I can just use this and have a bunch of cars as my employees
zantosh
@analogwired Actually, you're absolutely right. These apps could be embedded in after market car stereos or similar devices for the interim between self driving cars and the retrofitted conventional cars. It's gonna happen - don't say I didn't say it here.
FDLS
@zantosh agreed

Maybe is a good idea to mention what is it about here? and the requirements - you need telegram or what?
Eli weiss (Elimelech)
