Hi Product Hunt! I'm Yuxuan. I launched Joodle here in January, and this time I've opened a little laundromat on the internet. 🧺 It's completely free, and you don't need an account.
You can start a wash or dry cycle (5–60 minutes) as your focus timer, get notified when it's done, listen to lofi on an old TV, or brew some coffee.
But my favorite part is the people you never actually see. 🧡
You might be sitting there alone when the shop bell rings and another washing machine starts spinning. Someone might brew a pot of coffee to share with you. And if a stranger is writing in the notebook, you see their handwriting, and you wait your turn, just like sharing one real notebook.
And the notebook has already been quietly filling up over the past few days. In the attached screenshots here you can see a couple of pages here. These are all real notes from people who've stopped by. :)
The idea came from a book I read, *Yeonnam-Dong's Smiley Laundromat* by Kim Jiyun, translated by Shanna Tan. In the story, a notebook left in a neighborhood laundromat in Seoul becomes a place where strangers leave little pieces of their lives for one another.
I loved that idea and wondered what a little piece of it might feel like on the internet. Not another place where you have to talk or keep up with anything. Just somewhere to sit for a while, do your own thing, and feel a little less alone ✨.
I drew the room in isometric SVG, with little amber warm glows on things that are alive, and handwritten notes that stay on the shelf when a notebook fills up. I made it with Claude Code and had a lots of rounds of design iterations, hoping it would feel more like a dozy place rather than a cold dashboard.
Does having someone quietly around feel comforting or distracting while you work?
If you come by and leave a note, I hope the next person finds a kind one. 🫶
What stops someone from writing something nasty in the notebook? Do you check the notes?
i love this so much!! so zen.
@liaujianjie Thanks for loving the laundromat 🥰
