Thanks Maxime, that's the bet the whole architecture is built around.
We call it the barbell: two ends, nothing in the middle.
Desktop. The full app runs on your own machine, with your data in a file only you have. That's the only honest answer to "can the operator read my finances", and no hosted product can give it to you.
Hosted. One service, but every customer gets a separate database file with its own encryption key. Nothing is shared between customers, so there's no query that can accidentally return someone else's numbers.
Both ends use the same file format, so you can download your data from the hosted version and keep working on desktop (or go the other way) any time. It doubles as the exit door: nothing about the product depends on you staying.
What we deliberately skipped is the middle: one big shared database with a customer ID column on every row. It's the industry default and the cheapest to build, but it turns everyone's finances into a single honeypot where one bug exposes all of it.
