Tired of Finder? Kommanda is a dual-pane file manager for macOS with an AI assistant, integrated terminal, folder graph visualization, and productivity tools designed for developers, creators, and power users. Manage files faster and get more done without leaving your workflow.

👋 Hi Product Hunt!
I’m Ayman, an independent software developer and content creator.
I built Kommanda because I wanted a faster and more productive alternative to Finder on macOS. As a developer, I spend a lot of time moving files, organizing projects, navigating folders, and working in the terminal. Existing tools either felt too limited or too complex.
Kommanda combines a classic dual-pane workflow with modern features like:
• 🤖 AI assistant for file and project tasks
• 💻 Built-in terminal
• 🗂️ Dual-pane file management
• 📊 Folder graph visualization
• 👀 Quick previews for files and documents
• ⚡ Keyboard-driven workflow for power users
My goal is to create a file manager that helps developers, creators, and power users work faster without constantly switching between multiple applications.
I’d love to hear:
What feature would make you switch from Finder?
What would you like to see in future versions?
Thanks for checking out Kommanda and supporting indie makers! 🚀
Another feature I’ve been using a lot in Kommanda:
AI-powered file renaming.
I selected a group of screenshots with names like:
Screenshot 2026-06-15 at 12.14.23 PM.png
and asked Kommanda:
“Analyze these images and rename them with descriptive filenames based on their content.”
The AI analyzed each image, suggested meaningful names, and renamed them after confirmation.
Examples:
• kommanda-dual-pane-browser.png
• kommanda-folder-graph-overview.png
• kommanda-folder-graph-depth-2.png
• kommanda-rust-editor.png
• kommanda-reclaim-space.png
No more folders full of files called “Screenshot 2026…”.
One of my goals with Kommanda is to make AI useful for everyday file management, not just chat.
