KoalaSync perfectly synchronizes video streams across multiple devices. It works universally with Netflix, YouTube, and any HTML5 player, but was specifically built to support self-hosted servers like Emby, Jellyfin and Plex. No accounts, no tracking. Features include TV show auto-syncing and smart tab matching. It's 100% free, open-source, and you can even self-host the WebSocket relay server for complete data privacy.

Hey Product Hunt š
I got incredibly frustrated that established watch-party tools completely ignore self-hosted media servers like Emby, Jellyfin or Plex. So, I decided to scratch my own itch and built my own alternative: KoalaSync.
It's a free, privacy-first browser extension that perfectly syncs video streams in real-time.
What makes it different?
š Universal: Works on Emby, Plex, Netflix, YouTube, Twitch & pretty much any HTML5 video.
š« Frictionless: Absolutely no accounts, sign-ups, or databases. Just generate a room link and share it.
š» Self-Hostable: It works out of the box, but you can also completely self-host the real-time WebSocket backend yourself via Docker.
⨠QoL Features: Handles TV show auto-syncing (waits for everyone before playing the next episode) and smart tab matching.
I built this to be as lightweight and strictly private as possible. I'd love to hear your feedback or answer any questions you might have. Let me know what you think!
