Hi Product Hunt, I'm the maker of KlipJar.
Saving a video from a public post shouldn't need technical know-how. Yet most "video downloader" sites are a maze of fake Download buttons, pop-ups and redirects, and the people who get caught are the least technical: parents, teachers, small shop owners, anyone who just wants to keep a clip. So we built KlipJar for them, and released it for free.
Paste a link from TikTok, Instagram Reels, X (Twitter), Facebook, Pinterest or Reddit, see the files the platform actually publishes, pick one, save. MP4 with sound, the photos, or just the MP3.
What we sweated over
Plain-language answers. Private, removed or login-only posts say so. If your connection drops, KlipJar notices, tells you, and carries on when you're back online. No endless spinners.
Videos with sound. Reddit and some Facebook qualities store picture and sound separately; KlipJar joins them in your browser into one MP4.
Phones first. On iPhone, Save video puts it in Photos. On Android, the app sits in the share menu.
Six languages on the website: English, Bahasa Indonesia, Português, Español, Türkçe and हिन्दी.
A browser extension for Chrome and Firefox that saves Instagram and Facebook posts you can already see while signed in, using your own session.
Trying hard to do this responsibly
Free, with no account. One labelled ad helps pay for the servers, and no pop-ups or redirects. In the EU, UK and a few other regions, the ad only appears if you say yes. KlipJar sets no cookies of its own.
KlipJar only hands over what a platform publishes for a public post. It doesn't promise to remove watermarks, and it doesn't support YouTube.
It reminds you to save only content you own or have the right to save.
I'd love your honest feedback, especially links that fail. And which platform should KlipJar get better at next?
