I started looking around and... either you're paying $25-30/month for something decent, or you're stuck with tools that look like they were built in 2012. KipBill has a built-in AI assistant (powered by Claude) that actually handles your billing. you say things like "create an invoice for John, 3 hours of consulting at $150/hour" and it creates the full invoice with a preview. say "send it by email" and it attaches the PDF and sends it. ask "how much does John owe me?" and it pulls up the balance. it handles invoices, quotes, credit notes, expenses, clients, products, recurring schedules — everything through conversation. it also has voice input (Whisper) so you can literally dictate invoices from your phone. works in 12 languages. beyond the AI stuff: 25 PDF templates, client portal with online payments, recurring invoices, expense tracking, Stripe integration, e-signatures on quotes, inventory management, and team collaboration. everything localized in 12 languages including Arabic with full RTL support. there's a free plan — 5 clients, unlimited invoices, no time limit, no credit card needed. the AI is available on all plans. a note for the devs and AI folks here — if you know anything about API costs you're probably looking at our pricing and doing the math. yeah, it doesn't add up in our favor. every single AI interaction is a Claude API call, every voice message is a Whisper transcription, and we're charging what we charge. we're not subsidized, we don't have VC money burning a hole in our pocket, there's no "raise prices later" plan. the honest truth is we'd rather have a tool people actually use at a price that makes sense for freelancers than squeeze every penny. if it covers the servers and lets us keep building, that's a win for now.
