Kaestral is the inverse, it's a real multi-track editor running on your Windows PC, and the AI operates it through 52 validated MCP tools. Connect Claude Code, Cursor, or Claude Desktop, describe the edit, and watch it happen on an actual timeline you can then tweak by hand. Kaestral has eyes 👀 and ears 👂, it sees your footage through real frame vision and hears every word through on-device transcription, so it edits what's actually there instead of guessing. Everything is local. Transcription, rendering, export, your footage never leaves your machine. Free and GPLv3. One story from the build: two days before launch, verification caught that every packaged installer was shipping with an engine that died on startup. 310 automated tests were green the whole time. Tests didn't catch it, opening the actual app did. That lesson shaped the whole release process.
