The software tool which aims to help clinicians with the objective measurement process and clinical documentation by offering assistance in measuring joint range of motion and performing movement analysis.
Hi Product Hunt Community,
I’m Thomas, a physiotherapist based in Australia. After countless times measuring my patients' joint angles with a goniometer or estimating through observation, I wanted to develop a better way to help my fellow clinicians record their patient's objective measurements.
This is why I decided to build Joint Angels, a tool to measure joint range of motion and analyze movement efficiently.
I hope this can provide value and improve clinician productivity. I would love to hear any feedback or comments :)

Hi Thomas! Kudos to you for developing Joint Angels! It’s great to see a physiotherapist creating tools that directly address the needs of fellow clinicians. The ability to accurately measure joint range of motion could dramatically enhance patient assessments and lead to more data-driven decisions.
I’d love to know more about your MVP and the features that set it apart from traditional methods. Have you considered integrating any advanced analytics or a user-friendly dashboard for quicker insights? This could be a significant value-add in terms of productivity.
Excited to see how this project evolves. Keep up the great work! Upvoted!
@blankwebdev Thank you for your kind words! Traditionally for the vast majority of cases, clinicians would just base their patients' joint angles on observation (this comes with a margin of error) or use a goniometer to measure joint angles (this also comes with clinician error) and then document that in their clinical notes.
Joint angles aim to standardize the measuring process and also eliminate the time it takes to document these outcome measures. With clinicians seeing 10+ patients every day for 5 days a week I believe this can help offload a fair bit of work for clinicians.
In the future, I can definitely see integrating more advanced features such as analytics for changes in range of motion over time i.e. a patient's recovery after a total knee replacement. Another big productivity boost and help with clinical reasoning.
Hope this answer helps!

Can this be interfaced directly with an existing camera?
@charles_ You can use Joint Angels with your webcam (ensure that your browser Camera settings has your webcam as the default device). Additionally, Joint Angels can be used on the phone with the selfie camera. Thanks for your question :)
Hey Thomas,
I'm curious about the accuracy of the measurements compared to traditional methods.
Have you done any validation studies? How does the software handle different body types or patients with limited mobility? It would be interesting to know if there are any plans to integrate this with electronic health record systems.
Congrats on the launch!
@kyrylosilin As this is an mvp, there are no validation studies for this tool. However, as Joint Angels continues to develop with improving accuracy, I hope to work towards having validation studies to compare with traditional methods (not only in accuracy but also qualitatively whether the process as a whole for patient and clinician is beneficial).
Regarding different body types, the landmarks should be able to accommodate accordingly. Based on these landmarks, joint angles can be calculated displaying for example limited mobility.
Integrating with existing health record systems would be highly beneficial so the clinician does not need to change apps throughout the assessment and better streamlines the whole process. Definitely something that I will be keeping in mind further down!
Thanks for your questions :)
Congrats on the launch, @levyne ! The app’s performance is top-notch, and it runs smoothly without any hiccups. I really appreciate the clean UI and the intuitive color scheme - it’s very easy on the eyes. Can’t wait to see how it fits into my current workflow!
