Finally understand what you're looking at when you view art. From early renaissance masterpieces to 19th century realism, Joconde reveals the stories, histories and cultural heritage behind 12,000+ paintings. Available on the App Store.

I built Joconde because I was frustrated with existing art apps showing random abstract colors, flowers, and cats. I wanted an app focused purely on real culture and history - three masterpieces delivered daily, connected by meaningful cultural themes, not just whatever's pretty.
I wanted art to be made relatable so I categorized 12,000 paintings according to whats shown in the scene. Ancient Greece, scenes from Shakespeare, daily life in Italy, The Napoleonic Wars, etc. The collection is essentially a knowledge graph of civilzation with over 58,000 connections. Hand tagging the data was a actually a lot of work.
Example of how the knowledge graph works: You start on a painting of Socrates, move to a collection of Greek Philosophers, then to a gallery of stories from ancient literature and then discover a collection of daily life in Ancient Persia. There are 350 culturally themed galleries, all interconnected to show the bloodlines of civilization.
