Would Ionic be a good framework for a web app, that was primarily used in the mobile browser?
Matt Kremer
@mibi Hey Jess! That is an *extremely* good use case for Ionic, because you'll be using the same web technologies that you're used to and can release cross-platform apps easily. As a great getting started point, I recommend you check out Creator and then export the code to see what it looks like, you'll feel right at home :) We've even had very large companies that you've probably heard of build mobile websites with Ionic.

With the roadmap of Angular looking nasty, are there any plans to export ember or react/flux versions from ionic?
Max Lynch
@toobulkeh right now our plan is to focus on what Ionic uses, and that's currently Angular 1 and (soon) Angular 2 (which we are really excited about). However, we realized the tool itself could be used to target any kind of mobile output, and that's something we love about it. So, no short term plans but we're thinking about how to broaden the scope over time once we get this first part right :)

I'm a big fan of Ionic, and this latest release of Creator is going to make it even easier to build mobile apps. Looks like a great update!

Very cool tool Matt and congratulations on the launch! How would you differentiate yourself from other similar tools like PhoneGap and Pixate? Seems to me like PhoneGap was built to try and make code work cross-platform, and Pixate was meant more for live in-depth prototyping, but you seem to land in a nice middle ground focused around drag-and-drop rather than customization, correct? Can't wait to start using this!
Matt Kremer
@rajamatage Hey Raj, Ionic actually uses PhoneGap/Cordova :) Think of Ionic as the "hybrid SDK". When programming native, the native SDK gives you actual components like lists and buttons and such. That's what Ionic does for web developers who want to make mobile apps. It goes like this: 1. Native Layer 2. Cordova/Phonegap Bridge 3. Angular 4. Ionic 5. Your App Creator is just our Drag & Drop GUI editor that makes it easier to prototype Ionic apps!

@matthewkremer @rajamatage Ah! That makes perfect sense. Was just poking around on the site and can't wait to play around with it this weekend. Great launch!

Can't wait to check it out later, Looks like my weekend is now sorted.

Can you explain the difference 'export' methods I don't get it. "Package real iOS & Android apps" vs "Preview your projects live, on your device"
Matt Kremer
@orliesaurus Hey! Definitely :) There are few different ways to "export" your app: 1. Export a ZIP project that contains all of the HTML/CSS/JavaScript for an Ionic project. 2. Export a native IPA / APK file that can be installed on a phone. 3. Share your project with people via a URL that can be viewed in the browser (desktop/mobile) 4. Use the Creator Mobile App to view your project live on your phone as if it was natively installed (my favorite option 👍) Does that answer your question? Thanks! Matt
