Hi all!
Just sharing a simple tool for making your life with Google Calendar easier.
I noticed some of my flights weren't showing up in my calendar if I booked them using certain services. I also have been attending a few weddings and other events with a bunch of small events in a bigger itinerary.
With invite.sh, you just copy and paste in that flight confirmation email, the wedding itinerary, music festival lineup, etc and get links to add the events directly to your calendar.
It's dead simple and it's open source https://github.com/jrhizor/invite
Hope you all like it! Let me know if you find it useful or any ideas on what could be improved. Have a nice weekend!

Can a step by step video be made on how to navigate this and understand it at one watch. Does it create links for all itinerary?
@timmy_danner Good idea, I should do that. Yes it creates all the links for the itinerary. Basically you put the description of the event in (typed or copy pasted from any source) and then it gives links. When you click on the links, it opens to Google Calendar to create the event on your calendar.
Simple, quick, and extremely easy to use, and unlike other tools, does not infringe on the user's privacy by asking for access to their Google account.
Thank you for creating Invite.sh! It is quite the domain name too- short and memorable.
Congratulations on the launch Jared!
@aniruddha_j Thanks! Yeah, I feel like I lucked out with the domain.

Sounds like a handy tool, especially for those who juggle a lot of events. Haven't tried it yet, but the concept is super practical. Congrats on the launch!

This looks super useful, @jrhizor! How does it handle different time zones for the events? Any plans for integrating reminders as well?
@star_boat It depends on if it starts getting a lot of usage. There are a lot of directions to branch out in, reminders, more personal assistant-related tasks, or possibly something more group invite-focused.

This is such a great tool, @jrhizor! The fact that itβs open source makes it even more appealing. I often find myself struggling with event management in Google Calendar, especially with itineraries. The process of copying and pasting seems effortless, and I can see this improving my workflow significantly. Any plans for additional features? This is truly a game-changer for managing events. π

This sounds super useful! @jrhizor, how do you handle different time zones for events? Would love to see that feature in the future!
@christopherdavidanderson It happens automatically. If your itinerary shows the location (let's say for example you entered "lunch at noon in London this Tuesday", it will do that at noon London time, regardless of where you are in the world. However, if you just said "lunch at noon this Tuesday" it would use your local timezone. Flight airports are also used to figure out timezones.
