Ideation - brainstorm with AI... but keep full control over your ideas. Most AI assistants handle everything for you from start to finish. Our app doesn’t solve your problems. It nudges your thinking. Short hints and questions help you look at topics from new angles and unlock your creativity. It’s like inspiration from books, pictures, quotes, or music: they don’t give answers or ready-made ideas, but they spark ideas. That’s real creative brainstorming. In Your mind.
How often have you had a idea pop into your head, only for it to be immediately forgotten? Have you ever wondered what would happen if you actually tried to bring it to life right now?
2 3 years ago, while building a game, I read Jesse Schell's classic, The Art of Game Design. I picked up one key habit from it that I still use daily: immediately writing down any idea and spending at least a minute reflection.
Sometimes AI gives the first answer and we re just like: okay. But often the second or third option turns out more interesting, because that s when you actually start thinking, not just repeating what AI said. How often do you catch yourself accepting that first answer instead of turning the idea in your own mind?
Hi ProductHunt! I’m Vadim, and I got tired of getting generic answers and ideas from AI when I need inspiration. What if we don’t ask questions to AI, but instead AI asks questions to us?
I made Ideation because I noticed that the more I use AI, the less I think ourselves. Ideation helps bring back the habit of thinking. It doesn’t give ready-made answers, it asks you questions and gives very short hints!
To make these hints less boring, I came up with the concept of characters. We rarely ask AI to be someone specific but the result depends on that! So the ones asking questions and giving hints to you are a critic, a psychologist, a minimalist, an overthinker, a politician..., and other roles. You can choose several characters at once and they will help you think. Sometimes they will argue (even with each other!) or question your thoughts, but that’s the point! This way, ideas are born in your mind, not in a chat. You just need to start. At first it may feel hard. But try to carefully work through a couple of ideas, and soon you’ll see: the brain can create perfectly well without an AI assistant.
Even before the app launch, my friend said:
... Right, Ideas don’t grow without resistance ...
That’s so true: resistance is exactly what Ideation is about.
The app is already available on iOS and Android, and there’s also a small web demo (no registration required). I hope Ideation will help you keep your own creativity. Try it! And I’ll keep adding new characters and working with your feedback!
