Filing Form I-864 to sponsor a family member's green card? You must prove your income hits 125% of the federal poverty line β but the rules on household size, joint sponsors, and assets trip people up. This free tool checks it in seconds using the official 2026 I-864P tables.

Hey Product Hunt π
I built I-864 Income Calculator after watching how much stress one number causes families going through the green-card process.
When you sponsor a relative for a U.S. green card, you file Form I-864, Affidavit of Support, and have to prove your income is at least 125% of the HHS poverty guidelines for your household size. Sounds simple β but two things quietly derail people:
- Counting household size wrong (one extra person raises the requirement by $7,100 in 2026).
- Not knowing which rule applies β 125% vs. the 100% active-duty rule, the higher Alaska/Hawaii tables, or how assets and a joint sponsor factor in.
So I made a free calculator that:
β Walks you through household size with a simple wizard
β Uses the official 2026 I-864P figures (effective March 1, 2026)
β Handles Alaska/Hawaii, the military 100% rule, and the assets math
β Runs entirely in your browser β no sign-up, nothing stored
It's completely free, with plain-English guides for joint sponsors, using assets, and counting household size.
It's not legal advice β for complex cases people should see an immigration attorney β but it removes the guesswork on the income question.
Would love your feedback, especially from anyone who's been through the I-864 themselves. What was most confusing for you? π

Finally used this last night and the joint sponsor part actually clicked for me, way less confusing than reading the USCIS instructions. Appreciated that it pulled the 2026 poverty tables automatically so I didn't have to dig around for the right year.

@fatihmahalwd7kΒ Thank you, Fatih - this genuinely made my launch morning π The joint-sponsor rules were the #1 thing I kept seeing people get stuck on (especially that a joint sponsor has to qualify entirely on their own, not just top you up), so it means a lot that it finally clicked for you. And yeah β the "which year's tables?" confusion bit me too while researching, which is exactly why I made it auto-update each March. If anything felt unclear or missing while you used it, I'd love to hear it β still improving it.
