One of the things I love most about Hupmapper is that I get to see its value from two sides: as part of the Hupside team and as a college professor.
In the classroom, the AI conversation can get stuck on detection. Hupmapper opens up a much more useful conversation about the value a student brings to their work beyond baseline AI.
For educators, that creates another way to think about assessing learning, originality, and the development of a student’s own thinking. I’ve started using Hupmapper in my own professional life, and I’m really excited about its potential in education.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I'm part of the team at Hupside behind Hupmapper.
We've spent the summer watching the conversation around AI writing become almost entirely about detection: Was AI used? Can we catch it? Can we watermark it?
We think that's the wrong question.
Once AI is available to almost everyone, knowing that AI was involved tells you very little. The more interesting question is: what did the person bring to the work?
That's what Hupmapper measures. It gives any piece of writing an Originality Intensity score from 0–300, based on how far it goes beyond what AI alone would produce. It also creates a fingerprint you can share.
It's not an AI detector. We're not trying to catch anyone. We're giving people a way to explore what makes their writing distinctly theirs.
It's free to try right now. Grab something you've written, get your score, and drop it in the comments. I'm really curious what Product Hunt looks like as a group.
And tell us what you think. Does the score feel right? What surprised you? What did you test?
As a noted curmudgeon, I appreciate it when I find objective evidence that I'm right and everyone else is wrong. I like to stress the importance - alright, pound away at it to the point of sounding like a broken but sincere record - to my employees of the need for injecting their creativity into our products. My company writes plans and conducts exercises for emergency management agencies across the nation. We do not get to do that work unless we write winning proposals, so yeah, it's a little bit important to stand out in a sea of AI-authored sales pitches. We are looking at Hupmapper as a means of showing our folks the difference between bland, gray AI slop and a distinct voice and perspective that our clients will - we hope - want to have on their side. So for us, it could be both a value enhancer and a quality improver.
By the way, I just ran this through Hupmapper. My score: 296.
@kyle_olson2 - 296! Really appreciate you sharing this, proposal writing against a sea of AI-generated pitches is exactly the kind of stakes we had in mind but didn't say out loud when we built this. Would love to hear how your team responds once they start running their own drafts through it.
