Hi Product Hunt, solo founder here, I'm Phil! I built Homeniac after buying my first house in Calgary. Biggest thing I'd ever paid for, and it came with no manual. Had that good old inspection before buying and the inspector (very nice guy, btw) explained to me all the filters I should look out for, the frequency, how to maintain some things, how the water here in Calgary is hard so there's buildup that needs to be cleaned out from time to time, and at that time all I could think about was "I'm buying a house". Needless to say, I had to figure everything out by myself later on. I got lucky that the previous owners kept everything super well, but I still had to figure it out. Moved in in February. First day, no water. I called the utility company. I'd already opened the main valve so I figured it was on them. Then I looked under the kitchen sink, and there was another valve down there. And behind every sink. And behind every toilet. That's the thing with a first house. Either someone tells you everything at the exact moment you can't take any of it in, or nobody tells you at all and you're supposed to already know. And the stuff you don't get to shows up months later, usually in January, usually expensive. So, Homeniac helps you with most of this. It builds you a plan off your actual house: the appliances in it, your province, how old the place is. It tells you what's due and when. It takes Environment Canada warnings and turns them into something specific to go do before the weather hits. You can take a photo of the data plate on your furnace and it reads the model right off the sticker. And there's an advisor you can just ask stuff, it answers in Canadian dollars. Canada only, on purpose. Everything I looked at was built for US homes: USD costs, no French, no clue what November in Manitoba means. It's free to start, no card.
